Interview

Hello, thank you for taking the time for this interview. Before we start, could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your current position in the company?

Hello, my name is Branislav Mitic. I am 45 years old and have a degree in electrical engineering. My current position at Axians is Segment Manager for Workplace Managed Services.

Can you tell us about your background? How did you get to your current position?

I have been a PC enthusiast since high school. Recognizing the potential to turn my passion into a career, I pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. My passion continues to drive my professional development, allowing me to stay abreast of technological advances and innovations.

How did you join the company? What motivated you to join and what positions have you held in the company?

I joined the company more than 20 years ago as a student intern, helping the technicians and engineers with PC and server maintenance. I liked the work and the whole environment I was working in, so I applied for a full-time job some time later.

My first job was as a support technician. From there, I moved into a position as a systems engineer and internal IT support for the company, and later as an IT administrator. After a while I was offered a position managing a team of engineers and technicians for maintenance and support contracts. I am still in that position, only my team has grown considerably over the years.

How would you describe the culture here? What makes Axians special?

On the outside, Axians is a modern office with the professional excellence expected of a leading firm. However, what really sets us apart is the community within. I have been privileged to work with colleagues who have become more than just teammates – they are friends.

How would you describe a typical day at work?

There is no typical day in my team. We have a lot of support and maintenance contracts and every day we have a different set of tasks, projects to work on, installations to complete and tickets to resolve – but that is what makes the job interesting. Without good communication within the team it would not be easy.

“Every project strengthens us and earns client trust—the best reward for our hard work.”

Have you faced any particular challenges in your career? How did you overcome them?

My biggest personal challenge was the transition from being an engineer to leading a team. As an engineer, my focus was primarily on technical tasks and problem solving, and stepping into a management role required a change in mindset and skills.

I was no longer just responsible for my own work, but also for leading the whole team. This meant developing communication skills and learning to delegate effectively, but also understanding the strengths and needs of my team members.

The biggest support came from my line manager in the form of guidance, but also from our HR department who helped me to better understand and motivate the team.

Can you share one or more success stories from your time with us and what were the key moments or projects that shaped your career?

I can’t really remember how many projects we have successfully completed, but I have gained invaluable experience from each one. Experience makes us better at what we do, makes our clients happier, and makes us prouder and happier at what we do.

I am happy that our clients recognize all the hard work we put into the projects and trust us with their needs. Their satisfaction and loyalty are the greatest compliments we can receive for our work.

What are your career goals for the future and how does the company help you achieve them?

IT is an ever-changing field to work in. My goals are to continue to work on interesting projects and to see all the new technologies we can implement and use.
Axians is a great place to do that.

What advice would you give to new employees just starting out?
Within Axians there are many projects to work on, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and seek guidance from your colleagues. Collaboration and teamwork are key to success and you’ll find that your colleagues are your greatest source of support and knowledge.
Is there anything else you’d like to add that we haven’t discussed?
Our office is more than just a place to work; it is a community where many of my colleagues have become close friends. The camaraderie we share extends beyond the end of the workday, as we often engage in fun activities and enjoy each other’s company outside of work.
Thank you for your time and valuable insights.

Thank you!
