Interview

Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your current position in the company?

My name is Marek Jina, and I work as a Solution Architect at Axians Czech Republic. I’m part of the Key Account Managers team, collaborating closely with our delivery team to prepare proposals and manage tenders for customers. I’m responsible for our partnership with Citrix in the Czech Republic, and I’m currently beginning to take on the responsibility for our partnership with Microsoft as well.

Can you tell me about your career and how did you reach your current position?

I’ve grown into my current position over the years. I started working with S&T about 12 years ago, in 2013, as a Services Coordinator. My role involved handling customer calls, managing the incident management system, and creating tickets for our technicians.

After about a year, I transitioned to a desk operator role, where I was stationed at the customer site, helping resolve infrastructure issues. Another year later, I became the Services Team Leader, managing a small team of three or four people. However, I soon realized that this role wasn’t the best fit for me.

An opportunity then came up to join the sales team as a Solution Architect, and I’ve been in this position for the past 9 or 10 years, where I continue to grow and contribute.

How did you join the company and what motivated you to work at Axians?

I studied Information Technology in both high school and university, and after graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I began looking for a job. I was unsure whether I wanted a full-time position or to continue my education part-time while working.

A friend of mine was already working here and encouraged me to apply. I did, and that’s how I started working full-time with the company.

How would you describe the culture at Axians? What makes it special for you?

I appreciate the culture at Axians for its global, interconnected nature. It’s fascinating to see how teams across different regions operate, and the collaboration between countries makes it a unique and enriching experience.

For example, if I need help with selling hardware maintenance in a country outside the Czech Republic, I can easily reach out to colleagues in other regions. As I’ve recently started working with the Microsoft team, my collaboration with colleagues across different countries has become even more important, and that global cooperation is something I truly value.

Can you share a success story from your work?

Yes, I can share a success story. We’re currently working on a significant project for the army, which took over two years to secure. We began working on it in early 2022, and it was a long and challenging process to meet the customer’s needs and secure the project. However, all the effort has paid off, and it’s been a major achievement for our team.

Have you faced any particular challenges in your career?

One of the biggest challenges I’m currently facing is joining the Microsoft team. It’s a significant challenge for me, but I’m determined to succeed.

Fortunately, I have strong support from our management, particularly from our Business Unit General Manager, who has been a great mentor throughout my time at Axians. We’ve worked together for over 10 years, and his guidance has been invaluable.

In terms of training, I’m focused on learning about the Microsoft partnership, project rewards, and other key areas. It’s a lot to take on, but I believe my colleagues from other countries will be able to assist me in navigating this new responsibility.

What are your career goals for the future?
My main career goal right now is to fully adopt Microsoft technology and strengthen our Microsoft team. I want to ensure that we can provide the services our customers truly need and deliver the best solutions possible.
If you could offer advice to a new employee starting at Axians, what would it be?

My advice to a new employee at Axians is to never hesitate to ask questions. If you’re unsure about something or need assistance, reach out to your colleagues. We’re like a big family here, and we’re always willing to help one another.

Thank you very much Marek!
